Krafty Chicks challenge #832 - birthday

Good morning lovely friends. I hope you're all doing ok and having a great week so far. It's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week is Week 1, our theme is 'birthday' and our hostess is Leanne. We always need birthday cards, gift packaging and decorations so I'm sure you will find this week a breeze!  We hope you will come over and join in the fun with us.

My new kit from Gina K Designs had just arrived so I used the gorgeous mini incentive set which has these gorgeous butterfly images and sentiments.  I used a few different GKD dies and a clean and simple layout and I think it turned out so pretty.  I hope you like it too.

Plus I decorated the inside:

I began by stamping the butterfly images using memento ink onto alcohol marker friendly card.  I coloured them with Spectrum Noir tri-blend markers for a change and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  I also added some white gel pen highlights.  I die cut the scalloped rectangle (from master layouts 4) and the circle windows plate from white card.  I took the inner part of the circles and ink blended one of them pink, one yellow and one orange using the ink left over on my blending brushes .  I adhered the circles panel onto the scalloped rectangle using liquid glue and then replaced the circles into their spots again using liquid glue.  I stamped the sentiment onto the yellow circle using black ink.  I added the butterflies onto the circles using foam squares just under their bodies so that their wings can be lifted up a little.  I also went around the circles with my white gel pen to add some faux white spatters.  The panel was then adhered to my card base using double sided tape.  For the inside I die cut another scalloped rectangle from white card, ink blended some of the yellow and orange inks in the right hand corner and added a pink butterfly over top.  I stamped the sentiment using black ink and added the panel to my card base using double sided tape.

Krafty Chicks challenge #831 - ATG with a twist

Good morning lovely friends; I hope your week is going well so far. I'm sharing my card for the new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week we are on Week 5; and as it's an extra week this month we have an anything goes theme and Diane is our hostess. However we are mixing it up this year and adding an optional twist and the twist this time is 'mood board' and we have a beautiful summery board to inspire you.  Such a fun twist and we hope you will come over and join in the fun with us.

My eye was immediately drawn to the water melon image and luckily for me I had just purchased a fun fruity stamp set from Time For Tea Designs in their recent sale so it was shown some love right away!  I created my own 'patterned paper' using the stamps and I think it turned out super cute.  I hope you like it too.

I began by cutting a white panel 4" x 5 1/4" and created my background using the single melon slice stamp; I also stamped the bunny with the melon slice and coloured them all with my Promarkers.  I used the coordinating die to cut out the bunny image (along with 3 more from plain white) and added white highlights with a gelly roll pen.  I stamped the sentiment using black ink on white card and also die cut another 3 from plain white card and stacked them using liquid glue.  I decided to cut out the background using this fun wavy edges die and also cut a mat layer from black card using the next size up; I adhered the layers together with double sided tape.  I used the same wavy edge die set and cut a smaller one from vellum to use as a grounding layer for my image and sentiment (as the background was super busy).  I decided I needed another layer of vellum to give some separation.  I added the bunny and sentiment onto the vellum using liquid glue and added the two layers of vellum together using double sided tape.  This was then adhered to the background panel using liquid glue. The panel was added to my card base using double sided tape.  I didn't add any embellishments as the background was busy enough already.  For the inside I cut another white layer and black layer using the wavy edge dies.  I had a tiny piece of the background left over so cut a strip for the bottom again using the wavy edge die and adhered all the layers together using liquid glue.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre using black ink (I did some masking so that I could slightly change the sentiment).  I stamped, coloured and die cut one more melon slice and added that to the top right corner using liquid glue.  The panel was then adhered to the card base using double sided tape.

Krafty Chicks challenge #830 - Masculine

Good morning lovely friends; I hope your week is going well so far and you're surviving the heatwave; although thankfully it's a little cooler here now. I'm sharing my card for the new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week we are on Week 4; as always the theme is 'Masculine' and Lori is our hostess. We know it's not everyone's favourite challenge, but we do have to make some masculine cards sometime and this challenge will hopefully help you get them done. We hope you will come over and join in the fun with us.

As usual I was pushed for time so kept my card fairly clean and simple, but as I've said before I think most men prefer their cards that way anyway.  My card is almost a SIP card this week (stamps, ink and paper) but I did use a banner die to cut out the birthday greeting.  I think it turned out great and I hope you like it too.

Plus I decorated the inside:

I began by cutting a white panel 4" x 5 1/4".  I stamped the background stamp using two different shades of grey ink; I put the darker shade in the centre and the lighter on the edges and used a blending brush to soften the line between them and I liked that it ended up looking quite distressed.  I stamped three stars in red, blue and the lighter grey and fussy cut them out.  I adhered them over the background using foam squares.  I stamped the sentiment in the darker grey and used a banner die to cut it out and adhered it over the centre star using a combination of foam squares and liquid glue.  For a finishing touch I stamped some smaller, solid stars around the panel and added some black spatter.  I adhered the panel onto my card base with double sided tape.  For the inside I cut a panel 3 3/4" x 5" and stamped the background and 2 stars directly at the bottom of the panel; I also added some smaller stars and spatter.  The sentiment was stamped in the centre using the darker grey ink and the panel was adhered to the card base using double sided tape.

Krafty Chicks challenge #829 - CAS

Good morning lovely friends and welcome to my little corner of blogland. It's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week we are on Week 3; and as always the theme is 'CAS (clean and simple)' and Diane is our hostess. Now we know that CAS is subjective but generally it's lots of open space (doesn't have to be white), no embellishments (or very few) and an uncluttered design. It can be a difficult design to pull off but we hope you will take on the challenge and come over and join in the fun with us.

When I was searching through my stash recently I came across this die set that I have had for years but never used and thought it was time to show it some love.  It has a retro, 60's vibe so went with bright and funky colours.  I think it turned out really fun and I hope you like it too.

I began by cutting a white panel 4" x 5 1/4".  I die cut the retro squares frames from black card and the inner pieces from yellow, orange and pink and adhered them together using liquid glue.  I added the strips vertically on the left side of the panel again using liquid glue.  I found a fun scripty 'hi' sentiment that fit the space to the right of the strips and stamped that using black ink.  The panel was adhered to the card base with double sided tape.  For the inside I cut another white panel and adhered the black frame using liquid glue and filled the gaps using a mix of the yellow, orange and pink inners.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre using black ink and adhered the panel to the card base with double sided tape.  Once the die cutting and glueing was done this was a super quick card to make.

Krafty Chicks challenge #828 - Christmas

Good morning lovely friends, I appreciate you stopping by and I hope you're all doing ok. It's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week we are on Week 2; as always the theme is 'Christmas' and I am your hostess. We are slowly adding to the Christmas pile, which really takes the stress off later in the year. We hope you will come over and join in the fun with us.

I recently bought some Penny Black wooden stamps from a friend who was de-stashing her craft room and had to use one of them on today's card (you know how much I love the PB hedgies!).  I was pushed for time when making my card so kept things very clean and simple, no dimension and it is a true SIP card this week. I think it turned super cute and I hope you like it too.

I began by cutting a white panel 4" x 5 1/4" from alcohol marker friendly card and stamped the image at the bottom.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added some white gelly roll pen highlights. I stamped the sentiment in the upper left of the panel using black ink.  I added the panel onto a piece of red glitter card cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and then adhered it to my card base using double sided tape.  No dimension or embellishments but this makes it perfect for mailing!  For the inside I cut a white panel 3 3/4" x 5" and stamped the image in the bottom using black ink.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre and added the panel onto another red glitter card layer.  The panel was then adhered to the card base using double sided tape.

Krafty Chicks challenge #826 - Birthday

Good morning lovely friends; I hope you're having a great week. It's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks challenge and this week we are on Week 1; as always the theme is 'birthday' and Leanne is our hostess. This is such an easy challenge as we always need birthday cards so we hope you will come over and join in the fun with us.

It was my friend's birthday a few days ago and this is the card I made for her.  I've had this stamp for a little while and never used it and saw it when I was searching for something else so I thought I would finally show it some love.  I ended up making a shaker card, which I haven't done for a while, and I think it turned super pretty.  I hope you like it too.

Plus I decorated the inside:

I began by cutting a white panel 4" x 5 1/4" and embossed it using a pretty swirly embossing folder.  I stamped the wreath image, coloured it with Promarkers and used the coordinating die to cut it out.  I also cut another 3 from white card so that I could stack it up using liquid glue.  It was a this point that I decided the wreath would be perfect for a shaker window so cut a piece of acetate and added that behind the stamped wreath using liquid glue.  I then adhered this to the other 3 plain white wreaths using liquid glue.  I used some clear sequins for inside my shaker but felt I still needed a little more dimension for them to shake freely so added some foam tape shaker strips around the wreath and adhered it over the sequins onto the background.  I didn't use the sentiment from the wreath set for the front as I wanted something a little bigger so found this sentiment already stamped and die cut so I only had to cut another 3 plain white ones to stack up, again for extra dimension.  The sentiment was adhered onto the background using liquid glue.  I added some scrap white card behind my panel and added it to my card base with double sided tape.  For the inside I cut another white panel and partially embossed the swirly pattern along the bottom.  I stamped, coloured and die cut another wreath and cut it apart so that I could place it over the embossed portion, using liquid glue.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre with black ink and adhered the panel to the card base with double sided tape.
